As we move forward in this new year, I'm filled with pride reflecting on what we've accomplished together and excitement for what lies ahead. Our inaugural Blu Tie Gala demonstrated the power of our collective commitment to scholarship and community service—a testament to the vision our founders established over a century ago.
James 1:2-4 reminds us: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." This passage speaks directly to our fraternal journey. Every challenge we encounter—whether in our personal lives, professional endeavors, or chapter initiatives—is an opportunity to grow stronger together.
Our founders chose the motto "Culture For Service and Service For Humanity" with deliberate purpose. They understood that true brotherhood is forged not in comfort, but in our commitment to something greater than ourselves. Each of you brings unique talents and perspectives that strengthen our bond and expand our impact.
As we continue serving our Athens community and supporting the next generation of Sigma men at UGA, remember that your presence matters. Your engagement matters. Your voice matters.
Let us persevere together with the same determination that has sustained our beloved fraternity for over sixty years in Athens. Through our continued dedication to brotherhood, scholarship, and service, we honor those who came before us while building a legacy for those who will follow.
In Brotherhood,
Bro. Darren Tooson
